Blessing and Bell has a varied criminal practice with experience in representing people on matters such as capital murder, drug offenses, theft, assault, driving under the influence and traffic tickets. On any criminal matter we will explain the offense, what is necessary for the Commonwealth to prove in order to obtain a conviction, the range of punishment and where applicable preliminary (probable cause hearings), indictments, grand juries, jury trials, judge trials, the sentencing guidelines and plea negotiations.  

Real Estate:

For any real estate matter, we would like to have a copy of any documents that pertain to your transaction including contracts, deeds, surveys, title policies, boundary agreements, etc. We have established a relationship with all local lending institutions and numerous institutions outside of the area to close loans for such lenders. As approved attorneys for Lawyers Title Insurance Company, Investors Title, Southern Title, Fidelity American Title and First American Title Insurance, a variety of options can be presented to you as concerns title insurance coverage.

Domestic & Divorce:

Blessing and Bell helps people in the Southside Virginia area in all areas of family law including filing for divorce in both contested and uncontested divorces, custody and visitation issues, and child and spousal support cases.

Civil Litigation:

Civil cases can be tried in both the General District Court or the Circuit Court. Section 16.1-77 of the Code of Virginia states that suits for money damages may be tried in the General District court if the damages claimed are $15,000.00 or less (exclusive of interest, costs, and attorney's fees).

Will & Estate Planning:

Our office can assist you with the preparation of a limited, specific or general Power of Attorney. We also provide services with regard to Will and Trust preparation and Advance Medical Directives. For complex estate planning, we insist upon working with a Certified Financial Planner or a Certified Public Accountant for advice on tax matters.

Corporations, Limited Liability Companies and Partnerships:

We can assist you with the formation of a corporation, partnership, or limited liability company. Often we work in conjunction with a Financial Planner or a Certified Public Accountant with regard to these matters. We also handle other forms of business arrangements such as Leases, Buy Sell Agreements and other business contracts.
